The graphics are from PS3, the lag can be pretty bad, the controls are not the best, the guns have limited range It's.mediocre. All this being said I really love the actual combat, so I'll give it a solid 7, great game play with loot boxes and a toxic community. While you do earn the tokens used to buy the loot boxes, this is at the rate of three per a day assuming you're completing all the daily missions, and kind of impractical. This is aggravated in that you could pay $25.00 for a 10-pack loot box and get what amounts to nothing. While balanced just enough that I wouldn't call it a pay to play/win it would more or less fall under pay to not get bored. Furthermore this game falls into the freemium category. If you want to avoid this anxiety inducing issue all together I suggest you just hop into the quick play list, enjoy yourself, and avoid interacting with the toxic community. While this greatly encourages group play and for players to form/join guilds, it ruins the game for the single player who now relies on luck with reguard to weather they will increase or decrease in rank with their next match for as I've witnessed so far, a bad played could bring down a good team but a good player doesn't elevate a bad team. As mentioned with the community, rank seems to be everything to most outspoken players, you advance in rank by winning battles and can lose it from a loss (graded D to A). The community is a bit of an issue as players demonstrate a certain amount of elitism (I'll get to that momentarily) and will continually dog pile a damaged enemy simply to get a kill, even if it means costing their team points towards winning the match. Combat is still the same and is definitely this games saving grace, though they could do to add more maps. Improvements have definitely been made to the match maker, and I no longer find myself continually pulling up youtube on my phone to make the wait more bearable, though there are still occasional technical issues. Improvements have definitely been made to the Update: After playing this for the past few months I felt the need to update my review of it. There is a lot going on so you have get used to them but they make sense once you get the swing of Suit and humanoid combat … Expand There is something for everyone and the controls are intuitive once you realize how they work. Tons of suits and weapons that are canon. The map variety is slowly growing even since the Japanese Launch. The daily missions are not too hard to complete and even the non premium currency gets you suits and upgrades. Just logon everday and you'll get premium coin for just that. It is free 2 play and it doesn't have a harsh grind. There are so many ways to win and the combat modes have something for everyone. The game runs so smooth and the combat's pace is deliberate and well paced. This should hold me over until Mechwarrior 5. This I have been playing the Japanese Release since launch so a bit different than most new players.
